Rangeland Fire Danger Statement
National Weather Service Aberdeen SD
507 AM CDT Thu Mar 28 2024

.DISCUSSION...

The grassland fire danger will remain low today as snow cover will
affect most of the area. Temperatures will be warming up but
relative humidity values will remain high as the area continues to
see snow melt. Fire danger will increase to moderate levels across
parts of central South Dakota on Friday as little to no snow cover
will exist in these areas. A couple of disturbances will increase
chances for precipitation later this week. The first system will
move through late tonight and Friday and the second system moves
through the region this weekend.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that the
probability of a fast moving fire is low. Outdoor burning under
these conditions can usually be performed with reasonable safety
precautions, but should be monitored.

The outlook for Friday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low to moderate category.
