Is there any free websites where I can retrieve monthly data on daily high and low temperatures of a particular region of Iowa?

Depends on how far back you want to go. The Weather Service has the daily highs and lows on their climate page.
    http://www.crh.noaa.gov/dmx/?n=climategraphics
Des Moines’ which is above has the highs and lows for Des Moines, Waterloo, Ottumwa and Mason City going back to 2000.
    http://www.crh.noaa.gov/dvn/?n=climategraphics
Davenport (Quad Cities) Weather Office has the same Highs and lows for Moline IL, Cedar Rapids, Dubuque and Burlington going back to 2002. Offices in Sioux Falls, Omaha and LaCrosse should have similar sites like this.
Before those dates, it gets very difficult to find the daily highs and lows for certain places that are actual NWS readings. Example of this would be Weatherunderground.com which has the daily highs and lows but may or may not be actual NWS readings. So for free data, you may be only able to get the data back a few years before having to shell out the money to go further back.

    Enjoyed your site.
Located here in Central Alabama. I had the dubious honor of being in Centreville Radar building when it was struck by an F4 in 1973. I have a site up on the event for those intersted in weather history.

Could you please tell me how I can find out how much snow the area in which I live has had since a particular date?

    Thanks for your help!!!

It’s dependent on where you live, many larger cities would have the amounts. Although a few places now are no longer reporting snowfall and if you go way back you may not be able to get it or find it.
